Kindlestown Castle
Kilcroney, Wicklow, Wicklow
One of the few examples of a type of haled castle used in the 13th and 14th centuries, this castle was probably built by the Archbolds in the 13th century. The castle was frequently attacked by the Irish and sometimes occupied by them. Early in the sixteenth century it was held by the O'Brynes, but they...

Manor Kilbride, Blessington, Wicklow

The castle is alleged to have been built in the early 14th century, but it could well be later. The English and Brian O'Toole defeated the Fitzgeralds here in a battle in 1547. Two other castles are said to have existed in the neighbourhood, but nothing remains of these....
